Due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, an orange alert has been issued in many districts of South Bengal, including West Burdwan district. In view of this orange alert, the district administration has put all the departments related to emergency services on high alert. Additional District Magistrate General Siraj Daneshyar said that an alert has been issued in the district for 72 hours from Monday to Wednesday. In view of this, two additional boats have been commissioned from the Disaster Management Department and two from the SDRF, i.e. a total of four additional boats. The district has a total of four boats. Out of a total of eight boats, two have been sent to the Durgapur department. All the others are in the district. They will be used as per the need. Control rooms have been started at the district office, divisional offices of Asansol and Durgapur and in all eight blocks. The team has been kept ready to deal with any emergency. According to forecasts, there will be no rain on Monday, which came as a relief. There is an alert until Wednesday, regarding which the administration is on high alert.

It is noteworthy that due to heavy rains on August 1 and 2 this month, almost all areas of the district were submerged in water and three people were also killed in the district. Only about 2,200 people affected by the Garui river in the Asansol railway crossing area were shifted to relief camps. 40 houses were completely destroyed and 400 houses were partially damaged. Two NDRF teams were also called to the district for relief work. People had not even been able to come out of this chaos of rain which was frightened by the 72-hour orange alert from Monday to Wednesday. Houses of hundreds of people, mainly living on the banks of the Garui river, were submerged in water and huge damage was caused. Additional District Magistrate (General) Mr. Daneshyar said that due to excessive rainfall, the problem of waterlogging is arising in several areas. The administration has made all arrangements in this regard. Last time, too, water was removed by installing pumps in the flooded areas. The administration is working to reduce the loss of life and property as much as possible.
