17 year old Indian archer Devi Sheetal She missed the world record by just one point on August 29 and secured second place in the women’s compound qualifying round at the iconic Les Invaldis Arena during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Impressed with his performance, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra recalled Devi Sheetal on September 2 of his promise that in 2023 he would give her the car when she turns 18 in 2025.
In early 2023, Mahindra tried to gift her a car, but she declined the offer, saying she would take it when she reached the legal driving age and customize it.
With a video of Sheetal circulating on social media where she scored a perfect 10, Anand Mahindra He praised the parachutist archer and thanked her for her bravery.
Mahindra took to X and wrote, “Extraordinary courage, commitment and never-give-up spirit are not tied to medals… #SheetalDevi, you are a beacon of inspiration for the country and the entire world. Almost a year ago, as a tribute to your indomitable spirit, I asked you to take up any car from our range and we would customise it for you to cruise around in. You rightly said that you would take up the offer when you turn 18, which you will do next year. I hope to keep that promise I made to you… And of course, no one else could be my #MondayMotivation.”

Sheetal was born with phocomelia (a congenital disorder affecting limb development) and has become the youngest Indian athlete to compete at the Paralympic Games. She is the first and only international archery champion without upper limbs. She has also become the only active archer in the world competing without arms.
