There was a quarrel between the two regarding this matter. After this, Mahendra Mahato brought food from the hotel and ate it. Anju did not eat during this period. After this there was again a quarrel between both of them. In the meantime, Mahendra got angry and strangled her. Mahendra Mahato again went to work. When he returned in the evening, he found Anju dead. After this, Mahendra Mahato consumed alcohol. Mahendra Mahato called a toto from Ramgarh for Rs 200. In the name of treatment, with the help of neighbour Sanjay, he kept Anju in a toto. After this, he dumped her body in an under-construction building at Phulsarai railway crossing at 7:45 pm and left from there. Mahendra Mahato stayed in Ramgarh on the night of the incident. On the morning of 10 September, he went to his home in Jebra (Peterwar). SI Rathu Oraon, Mohan Kumar and Indradev Mauchi of Giddi police station were involved in the arrest of Mahendra. It is noteworthy that Mahendra used to work as a bricklayer. It was during his work that he came close to Anju.
