Explaining the same, Dr Pal says, “The fermentation in the idli and the lentils in the sambar have provided her with good gut bacteria which stimulated her gut-skin axis so that all the absorption of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants has happened wonderfully and that is the result of her glowing skin.”

The monotropic diet is known to have several health benefits. Below, take a look at some of the benefits of a monotropic diet.

Help with meal planning

This diet requires you to eat only one type of food or food group at each meal. This helps to significantly simplify your meal planning. This reduction in food choices can make it easier for you to stick to an eating routine and reduce fatigue related to food selection.

Improves digestion

Eating just one type of food at a time can help ease the digestion process. The body can focus on breaking down and absorbing a single nutrient without the complexity of processing multiple types of food simultaneously. This can help improve nutrient absorption and reduce digestive discomfort.

Reduce calorie intake

By limiting your meals to a single food or food group, you can reduce your overall calorie intake. When there is a lack of variety in foods, it naturally helps to control overindulgence because the monotony of the diet makes it less tempting to overeat, which ultimately helps with weight control.

Helps you eat mindfully

A monotropic diet encourages mindfulness around food. With fewer distractions from different tastes and textures, you’re more likely to eat slowly, savor your food, and understand the feeling of fullness, which can prevent overeating.

Helps in detoxification

Focusing on one type of food can help the body’s detoxification processes. Foods like fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber and antioxidants that help eliminate toxins and improve overall health.

Raise awareness about food

Following a monotropic diet can increase your awareness of how different foods affect your energy levels, mood, and overall well-being. By isolating foods, you can clearly see the direct impact of each on your body, which can help you make long-term dietary choices.

Eliminate complexity in your diet

The simplicity of a monotropic diet makes it easier to identify food sensitivities or allergies. By isolating food groups, foods that cause adverse reactions can be easily identified and this allows for dietary adjustments to be made.
