Apple could charge up to $20 for some Apple Intelligence features: experts

Tech giant Apple could charge as much as $20 for its advanced artificial intelligence features as the company looks to boost growth of its lucrative services business.

Apple is planning to launch its next artificial intelligence system… Apple Intelligence — on some of its devices later this year, CNBC reported.

In June, when the company announced its artificial intelligence system, it promised a beefed-up Siri voice assistant and talked up features like the ability to automatically generate emails and images.

Analysts told the outlet that while these features will be rolled out slowly and China and Europe are not expected to receive access initially, Apple could charge a subscription for more advanced apps.

Since investing in AI is expensive, Apple It will look to pass that cost on to its users, said Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research.

Shah said software and services make it more lucrative for the company to continue the business.and apple A subscription model.

Apple One, which costs about $19.95 per month, gives users access to several Apple services like Apple Music and others.

The expert said the Cupertino giant could charge between $10 and $20 for Apple Intelligence to get more premium AI features.

In the June quarter, the company’s services division raised $24.2 billion, at a time when other hardware companies have failed to monetize software.

Ben Wood, head of research at CCS Insight, has called Apple “one of the few connected device companies that has successfully monetised the value-added services it offers.”

“With this, Apple has set a precedent with its users that they will have to pay for more premium services,” Wood said, adding: “On this basis, it cannot be ruled out that Apple will choose to charge for more advanced features within its Apple Intelligence offering.”

The tech expert went on to highlight that Apple Intelligence could provide an option for the company to launch a bundled subscription service that has multiple services under a single price.

“But Apple will be reluctant to dilute revenue from subscriptions to individual products,” he said.

It should be noted that OpenAI has a subscription fee for ChatGPT’s more advanced features, while the other competitor in the market, Microsoft, charges for its AI Copilot tool.

Samsung, one of Apple’s biggest rivals, has already started rolling out its artificial intelligence services – Galaxy AI. The company is reportedly still considering various revenue models for its AI software.
