A recent survey conducted to gauge awareness about clean energy sources revealed that approximately 50 percent of Gen Z respondents prefer solar solutions, followed by Millennials at 46 percent.
The report is based on a survey of 4,318 respondents across four age cohorts in five metropolises (Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai) and eight non-metropolitan areas (Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow and Patna), conducted between February and March 2024.
Generation Z refers to those in the age group of 18 to 22 years, Millennials from 23 to 38 years, Generation X from 39 to 54 years and Baby Boomers from 55 to 76 years.

The study showed that awareness about alternatives to traditional energy sources is increasing among Indians.
As many as 97 percent of respondents in India do not have a solar power system installed on their home rooftops.
In terms of accessibility, the survey found that 28 percent of baby boomers find solar energy solutions inaccessible, while millennials report the least difficulty, with only 21 percent expressing concerns.
Generation X and Generation Z follow closely behind, with 23 percent and 25 percent respectively, indicating inaccessibility.
Most respondents agreed that shortages of specialized skills and qualified labor are a major obstacle to a smooth transition to solar solutions.
