J&K and Haryana Assembly Elections: The upcoming assembly elections have been announced in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the elections on Friday. The Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases between September 18 and October 1. While the counting of votes will be done on October 4. Let us tell you that after the abolition of most of the provisions of Article 370 in the year 2019, assembly elections will be held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. While talking to the media, Rajiv Kumar said that there are 87.09 lakh voters for the 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 11,838 polling stations will be set up for the polling.
Last time, elections were held in five phases.
The last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in the year 2014. The last time, the assembly elections were held in five phases. In the first phase, 15 out of 87 seats were voted for. In the second phase, 18 seats were voted for. 16 seats were voted for in the third phase and 18 seats in the fourth phase. In the fifth and final phase, voters voted for 20 seats.
The number of seats has increased to 90
The Election Commission said in a statement that now the number of assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir has been increased to 90. There are 43 seats in Jammu and 47 seats in Kashmir. It said that in the Jammu region, one seat has been increased in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda and Udhampur. Whereas, one seat has been increased in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
Haryana elections in a single phase
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the assembly elections in Haryana will be completed in a single phase. Voting will take place here on October 1, while the results will be declared on October 4. The Chief Election Commissioner said that there are a total of 90 constituencies in Haryana, of which 73 are general constituencies. SC has 17 assembly constituencies. A total of 2.01 crore voters are participating in elections in Haryana. Of which 1.06 crore are men. While 0.95 crore are women. 4.52 lakh voters will vote for the first time in the upcoming elections. The number of young voters is 40.95 lakh. The voters list of Haryana will be published on August 27, 2024.
Haryana’s election manifesto
The Election Commission said that the notification for the Haryana Assembly elections will be issued on September 5. Nominations can be filed till September 12. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is September 16. Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that voting will be held in one phase on October 1 and the counting of votes will take place on October 4. He said that there are 2.01 crore voters in a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana, of which 95 lakh are women. There is currently a Bharatiya Janata Party government in Haryana. Its term will end on November 3. After the last assembly elections, the BJP had formed a coalition government with the Jannayak Janata Party in the state. However, this alliance broke down following a disagreement over seat sharing in the Lok Sabha elections. Later, the BJP saved its government with the support of independent MLAs.

Voting in Haryana will take place on October 1 and counting of votes will take place on October 4. By-elections will not be held now – Electoral Commissioner
Regarding the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the by-elections are not being announced at the moment. He said that the by-elections for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat cannot be held at the moment due to a natural disaster.
