New Delhi: Ater Energy has announced a collaboration with Google The aim is to provide information on real-time availability of fast charging stations for two-wheelers for EV users. This partnership will enable electric vehicle (EV) users to use the Light Electric Vehicle Combined Charging System (LECCS), the official EV charging connector standard in India. Ather Grid, Ather’s fast charging network, is equipped with LECCS ports for efficient charging.

This update aims to improve the convenience of charging on public networks with the following improvements:

1. Ather Grid, Ather’s fast charging network, is now visible on Google Maps with live status updates.

2. Newly installed chargers will quickly appear on Google Maps.

3. LECCS is officially recognized as a plug type, allowing users to set LECCS as their default connector in Google Maps. As a result, chargers with LECCS will appear when searching for “electric vehicle charger near me” or “charging stations” in Google Maps.

4. This ensures that any LECCS-equipped vehicle can easily locate and charge at Ather Grid fast charging stations.

Currently, there are 1,973 fast chargers available to the public and Ather is continuously expanding its charging network. Ather Grid has developed a fast charging network specifically for electric two-wheelers, using the indigenously designed Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS). This system has received nationwide approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards. This new standard, introduced last year, is seen as a crucial step towards establishing a universal standard through interoperability, which is expected to improve the uptake of electric vehicles across the country.

Ather Energy stands out as the only electric two-wheeler manufacturer to integrate Google Maps directly into its scooter software. This software, known as Ather Stack, offers navigation via Google Maps along with real-time traffic updates.
