Hindus also demonstrated in Dhaka on Tuesday under the banner of Sanatan Adhikar Manch. While this demonstration was going on, Mohammad Yunus was meeting the members of the interim government inside his official residence. Before this demonstration, the chief aide of the Bangladesh interim government, Mohammad Yunus, reached the Dhakeshwari temple in the capital Dhaka. After reaching the temple, Yunus met the Hindus and assured them of safety. The attack on the Hindus on August 5 drew the attention of the entire world to Bangladesh. Questions began to arise. And after increasing pressure, the interim government had to ensure the safety of the Hindus.

Attacks against Hindus in 45 of 64 districts

According to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, which works for minorities, Hindus were attacked in 45 of Bangladesh’s 64 districts, meaning Hindus were victims of violence and vandalism in 70% of Bangladesh’s districts. Religious places, homes and businesses – everything was targeted. Bangladeshi Hindus have now taken responsibility for their own safety. Mohammad Yunus may have come to the Dhakeshwari temple to meet Hindus, but in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka itself, people from the Hindu community staged a candle-lit march and demanded protection for minorities.

A group of five Hindu students called the “Minority Rights Movement” met Dr Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government. Eight-point demands were handed over to Yunus for discussion. PM Modi promised to ensure protection of minorities. Only after widespread pressure did the Bangladesh government lose sleep and now talk about providing security for Hindus and other minorities. But the question is why such measures were not taken earlier? Meeting of RSS and BJP leaders on the situation of Hindus

On the other hand, a long meeting of the top leaders of the BJP and the RSS was held on Sunday evening. This meeting was held at the house of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Apart from Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were present in the meeting. On behalf of RSS, Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale and his co-Sarkaryavah Arun Kumar were present. No official information was given about the meeting which lasted for about 5 hours. It is believed that the issue of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh figured prominently. According to sources, the concerns of the Sangh Parivar over the situation in Bangladesh were shared with the government. Measures taken by the government for the security of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh were also discussed.

So many Hindus live in Bangladesh

There are 1 crore 31 lakh Hindus in Bangladesh. A maximum of 24 lakh live in Dhaka. After this, there are 20 lakh Hindu population in Rangpur, 10 lakh in Rajshahi, 4 lakh in Mymensingh, 13 lakh in Sylhet, 7 lakh in Barisal, 20 lakh in Chittagong and Khulna. On August 5, Hindus were attacked in all these cities of Bangladesh. Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir played a major role in instigating these protests. The fear among the Hindus of Bangladesh was such that abandoning everything, Bangladeshi Hindus gathered in large scale at the Indian border. Sheikh Hasina’s party also said that if her party does not come to power, nothing can be said about the future of Hindus in Bangladesh.

The Hindu population decreased over time.

In the year 1951, when Bangladesh was East Pakistan. Then there were 76% Muslims and 22% Hindus. From 1951 to 1974 the Hindu population decreased by 10%. And the Muslim population increased by 10 percent. In the year 1971 the liberation war for independence of Bangladesh broke out and during this the limits of cruelty towards Hindus were crossed and a large number of Hindu refugees came to India. According to the census conducted in the year 2022, Bangladesh has 91% Muslims and 7.9% Hindus. The population of other minorities like Buddhists and Christians remained the same in the last 75 years, so in Bangladesh only Hindus decreased and Muslims increased.

Fundamentalists responsible for such situation in Bangladesh

Experts blame the policies of the governments of these countries and the fundamentalists for this. Fundamentalist organisations in Bangladesh like Jamaat-e-Islami are continuously attacking Hindus. That is why Sheikh Hasina banned it. On 1 August, the government of Sheikh Hasina imposed a complete ban on Jamaat and on 5 August, Sheikh Hasina had to resign. Apart from the Hindus living there, those who punished the fundamentalists were also attacked. On 5 August, fundamentalists entered the house of a person named Tuheen Afroz and seriously injured him. They also cut off his hair. They treated him like this because he played an important role in punishing the radicals. The main opposition party in Bangladesh also has a fundamentalist thought. That is why the minority community in Bangladesh, especially the Hindus, are on the streets in large numbers for their safety.

Inflation at its highest level in 13 years

Food inflation in Bangladesh has hit an all-time high. Traders say prices will rise soon. Because the liquidity of the currency in the Bangladeshi market has been affected. That means there is less Taka in the market than usual. Food inflation in Bangladesh, which is facing a severe economic crisis, surpassed the highest level in 13 years and exceeded 14 percent in July. Data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics says that the consumer price index rose from 1.94 to 11.66 percent in July. The data shows that Bangladesh has the highest inflation in 13 years. There will be a price hike from next month. The neighboring country’s rupee will fall against the dollar.
