Balrampur: The skeleton of an elderly woman was found 6 months ago in the Chando police station area of ​​Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. A DNA test was conducted to identify it. According to the DNA report, the 70-year-old woman was identified as Sukhni Devi. While investigating on the basis of identity, the Balrampur police arrested a couple. During police interrogation, the couple said that they suspected her to be a witch, due to which they committed the murder.

Actually, this whole matter is from Idrikala village under Chando police station of Balrampur district. Six months ago, the police found the skeleton of a woman in the forest of the village. The police were collecting information about that skeleton. Meanwhile, the police received information that a 70-year-old woman from Idrikala village had gone missing. Her missing complaint has been lodged at the police station. After getting the information, the police conducted a DNA test of the skeleton to identify it. Through a DNA test, the police confirmed that the body was that of an elderly woman, Sukhni Devi.

Murdered under suspicion of being a witch

After identifying the old lady, the police proceeded to investigate this murder case. Then the police came to know that the deceased’s neighbours, Kamal Dev Nagesia and Bajanti Bai, had committed the murder. The accused husband and wife are residents of Jharkhand. The couple murdered the old lady on the suspicion of being a witch and a sorcerer. After committing the murder, the body was hidden in the bushes of the forest.

Elderly man suspected of killing three children

During police interrogation, the couple said that all three of their children had died suddenly in the last two to three years. Following the sudden death of the children, they suspected that Sukhni Bai might have caused the death of the children by practising witchcraft. Due to this suspicion, the crime was committed six months ago in November.

Corpse dumped in bushes to hide the crime

The couple said Sukhni Devi was coming to Idrikala village via the mountainous route for work. They then together injured the woman by first attacking her head with a stone and then strangling her to death. After killing the old woman, to destroy evidence, they took the body about 100 metres away from the spot and hid it under some bushes.

Additional SP said that during investigation, the accused confessed their crime during interrogation. Sukhni Devi has been arrested for murder and sent to jail.
