Bank of America says widespread blackout almost resolved

Bank of America announced Wednesday (Oct. 2) that a widespread outage affecting customers’ access to their accounts had largely been resolved, according to a CNN report.

The apparent issue left many customers unable to log in or view their balances, with some seeing their account balances drop to zero.

The bank confirmed the problem in a statement: “Some customers are experiencing problems accessing their accounts and balance information.”

They assured customers that these issues “are being addressed and have largely been resolved.”

The failure caused confusion and concern among bank of america customers, many of whom took to Downdetector to report seeing zero balances or being locked out of their accounts.

One customer noted, “Five accounts show zero balance, over 20,000,” while others were unable to log in at all.

Some users received error messages stating that their account balances “may be temporarily unavailable.”
