Bengaluru rave party: Telugu actress Hema and 87 others named in chargesheet

Karnataka Police On Thursday, it filed a chargesheet naming Telugu actress Hema and 87 others in connection with a rave party at a farmhouse near Bengaluru that was busted in May this year.

The 1,086-page charge sheet filed in the Bengaluru Additional Rural District Sessions Court states that Hema had consumed narcotic substances at the ‘Dusk to Dawn Victory’ themed party on May 20, which was attended by around 100 people, including technicians, Telugu actors and others.

According to police sources, the actress’s medical records confirmed that she had taken MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, which contains stimulant and psychedelic properties. Another actress has been named as a witness in the case after testing negative for drug use.

The indictment names 88 people as defendants in the case, including a Nigerian citizen named Augstin Dada. Of them, 79 face drug charges.

The police also submitted the call detail records (CDR) of the accused to the court.

According to the prosecution, police seized MDMA tablets, MDMA crystals, 5 grams of cocaine, Rs 500 notes laced with cocaine, huge quantity of ganja, five mobile phones, Volkswagen and Land Rover cars and other items from GM Farmhouse in Singena Agrahara area near Electronics City, the venue of the rave party.

The anti-narcotics wing of the Karnataka Police raided the rave organised at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Bengaluru on May 20. The party-goers allegedly consumed MDMA, cocaine, ganja and other narcotic substances.

Investigation revealed that around 100 people attended the party, most of whom were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The party organisers reportedly flew over 25 people from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru for the event.

Police also found a pass belonging to a Andhra Pradesh State The MLA was in one of the cars parked at the property, sources said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an individual named Hari from Hyderabad organised the party on the pretext of a birthday celebration.

As the party continued past 2 a.m., the anti-narcotics wing officers raided the country house. Police also found more than 15 luxury cars at the site.

Popular Telugu actress Hema was arrested on June 3 in connection with the case before being released on bail.

In a video message posted after the raid, Hema had claimed that she was not present at the party as she was resting at a farmhouse in Hyderabad at the time. However, the police refused to believe her claims.

The actress had also created a scene while being taken away after a medical test, lashing out at the media for reporting “fake news”.

Police were also investigating the possibility of sex trafficking involved in drug supply.

Five people were arrested in the case before the case was transferred from the Electronics City police station to the anti-narcotics wing of the CCB.

Three police officers were suspended for negligence in the performance of their duties in connection with the case.
