Another ‘Bengaluru peak’ moment has recently gone viral on social media. A Bengaluru resident took to Reddit to share an interesting discovery. While chatting with his cook, he learned that his cook also has his own cook and a maid. They also discussed salaries and the resident was surprised at how much his cook was willing to pay those he had hired. He summed up the interaction as “Just Bengaluru stuff” and many people in the comments agreed with the same.

The Reddit post reads: “Today, I [27M] I asked my cook if he knew of any maids in the area who could clean our apartment. He said yes, but mentioned that she would charge Rs 3,000 for cleaning and washing utensils. I told her that our previous maid took Rs 2000 as it is a small 2BHK. He replied that he lives in a 1BHK and his maid’s salary is Rs 2,000 while his cook charges Rs 2,500 per person. I was shocked to realize that I was negotiating only Rs 1,000, while he was willingly paying more for a 1BHK. Just things from Bengaluru.”

Other Reddit users had a lot to say about this viral post. Many made jokes and witty comments related to chefs and cooking. Others theorized about the Bengaluru aspect of this situation. See some of the reactions below:
“Bangalore Peak Stuff”.
“Kitchen conception.”
“That’s nonsense.”
“Wait until you know that your cook is the CEO of Cook Services and that your cook is fresher under the probationary period.”
“A normal day in Bangalore.”
“It’s time for you to become someone’s cook. SPREAD THE CHAIN!”
“Based exclusively on services: getting staff from somewhere to supply them somewhere where they can supply somewhere else.”
“Imagine that the cook’s cook also has a cook. In the end, everyone cooks in someone else’s house, but not in their own.”
Before this, an X post about a man with an open laptop standing outside a momo stall went viral. The stall seems to be somewhere in Bengaluru and has therefore sparked reactions about the lives of ‘Bangalore techies’. While it’s unclear whether the man is working on his laptop or not, he is seen balancing it in one arm (while presumably waiting for his food order). Click here to read the full story.
