Jaipur doctors’ strike ends: Jaipur: There is news of relief for the patients admitted in the hospitals of the state including the Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur. The 10-day-long strike of the resident doctors has ended. In the talks with the government late in the evening of Wednesday, August 21, some demands of the resident doctors were agreed upon. Following this, the Jaipur Resident Doctors Association (JARD) decided to partially end the strike. The resident doctors have agreed to provide emergency and ICU services. The boycott of ward and OPD work is currently continuing. Talks were held with the Medical Minister and departmental officials as well as the delegation of resident doctors. Consensus has been reached on 5 demands.

Police stations will increase their staff and bodyguards will also be deployed in SMS

After holding talks with the resident doctors, Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar said that SMS police station is open on the premises of Sawai Mansingh Hospital. The staff of this station will be increased so that the hospital premises are patrolled round the clock. This will ensure the safety of doctors and medical staff. The Health Minister said that 30 bodyguards will also be deployed at Sawai Mansingh Hospital for the safety of residents. He said that Rajasthan will probably be the first state in the country where such measures will be taken for the safety of medical staff.

Consensus reached on these 5 demands
1. A university-level committee will be formed for the safety of resident doctors. Representatives of resident doctors will also be included in this committee. This committee will prepare proposals for improvements to be made in the security arrangements in colleges, hostels and hospitals.
2. A letter will be written to the Department of Home Affairs on behalf of the department for necessary security arrangements at the medical complex.
3. Mental health cell will be formed in all medical colleges in the state on the lines of NMC. Also, ICC will be formed under Posh Act. All medical staff will be informed about it.
4. A letter will be written to the Central Government on behalf of the State Government to implement the Central Protection Act for the safety of medical staff and resident doctors.
5. The labor boycott period will be adjusted to the day off or state holiday. This means that wages will not be deducted during the labor boycott days.

The National Committee will make the decision to end the entire strike.
Jaipur Resident Doctors Association (JARD) president Dr Manohar Seol said that after talks with the state government, after agreeing on some demands, emergency, ICU, emergency OT and delivery ward services have been restored. However, the work boycott will continue in general OPD, ward services and routine OT services for the time being. Dr Seol said that these services will be restored only after a decision is taken by our organisation at the national level. It may be mentioned that they were on strike since August 12.
