BIG Setback For JJP In Haryana. 4 MLAs Resigned Within 24 Hours After Announcement Of Assembly Poll Schedule

Chandigarh: In a major setback for the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), four of its 10 legislators resigned from the party within 24 hours of the announcement of the assembly elections in the state. On Saturday, Timeline, David Babli and Ishwar Singh resigned from the JJP, while Anoop Dhanak He resigned on Friday.

Kala represents Shahbad constituency, while Dhanak was elected from Uklana seat. Babli was elected from Tohana seat in 2019 and Singh won the 2019 assembly elections from Guhla seat.

Haryana Assembly Elections Schedule:

The Electoral Commission announced on Friday the schedule for the Assembly elections in Haryana Along with Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana will hold single-phase elections on October 1 and votes will be counted on October 4. The Haryana Assembly is scheduled to conclude on November 3.

Post-election alliance 2019:

After the 2019 elections, the JJP announced a post-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and formed the government in the state. The 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly needs 46 seats for a majority. The BJP fell short of a majority. Due to this, the two parties formed the post-poll alliance.

Cracks in the BJP-JJP alliance:

However, in March this year, cracks appeared in the JJP-BJP alliance after they failed to reach an agreement on seat-sharing in the state for the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2019 elections. JJP co-founder and Uchana Kalan MP Dushyant Chautala served as the state’s deputy chief minister till March 2024.

Meanwhile, in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, the BJP and opposition party Congress won five seats each, while the JJP failed to win a single seat.
