Bihar: 14 IAS officers transferred, 11 awaiting postings

Patna: In a major bureaucratic restructuring, the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar Fourteen Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers were given new posts on Wednesday, officials said.

Additionally, 11 IAS officers have been transferred to the General Administration Department (GAD) and are now awaiting further assignments. Most of the officers affected by this reshuffle belong to the 2019 and 2020 batches.

Several city commissioners have been assigned new roles. Sumit Kumar (class of 2019), who was earlier the Saran city commissioner, has been appointed as the new deputy development commissioner (DDC) of Bettiah.

Preeti, also from the batch of 2019 and currently serving as DDC in Khagaria, has been appointed as the new commissioner of Bhagalpur city. Naveen Kumar, another IAS officer from the batch of 2019 who was commissioner of Muzaffarpur city, has been appointed as the new DDC of Gaya.

The GAD notification also includes other important appointments: Yatendra Kumar Pal, currently the Rohtas City Commissioner, has been appointed as the DDC of Saran; Ara DDC Vikram Veerkar is now the Muzaffarpur City Commissioner; Saran DDC Priyanka Rani will take over the role of Nawada DDC; Nawada DDC Deepak Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the Nalanda City Commissioner and Shreshta Anupam of the 2020 batch will become the new DDC of Muzaffarpur.
