Several social media users claimed that the Department of Defense is preparing for a possible biochemical threat in the coming days. The Gateway Pundit report says local and federal officials “are on high alert for a possible biochemical attack.” CBS News reported Sunday that some of its investigators examined Rush University Medical Center’s preparations for the Democratic National Convention.

The media outlet notes that the hospital “has moved some outpatient consultations to virtual ones and is prepared with specialized medical equipment.”

Shonda Morrow, who leads the hospital’s nursing staff and operations, told CBS News that her team is prepared for the convention. “The biggest challenge is not knowing what to expect, but still preparing for what you’re not prepared for,” Morrow said.

Meanwhile, thousands of activists are expected to gather in Chicago this week, hoping to draw attention to abortion rights, economic injustice and the war in Gaza.

Activists say they have learned lessons from last month’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and predict larger crowds and more robust demonstrations in Chicago, a city with deep roots in social activism.
