BJP CEC meeting on Haryana Assembly elections concludes; 55 seats finalised and CM Saini to contest from Ladwa: Sources

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) concluded its Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Thursday evening, focusing on the selection of candidates for the upcoming elections. Haryana Assembly ElectionsThe high-profile meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Home Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was held at the party headquarters in Delhi.

During the meeting, the BJP discussed the 90 seats up for Haryana Assembly elections, and a decision was taken on 55 of these seats, sources said. The sources added that Rao Inderjit SinghThe daughter of, Aarti Raowill contest from Ateli, while CM Saini will contest from Ladwa. The party has decided to reserve some seats and all the candidate announcements are yet to be finalised.

Sources say the BJP is considering various strategies to improve its electoral prospects, including the possible inclusion of sportspersons in the list. Arvind Sharma, who earlier lost the Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak, is also likely to be a candidate. The party intends to prioritise candidates based on their chances of winning, local issues, caste equations and popularity.

Earlier in the day, the BJP core group met for five hours at JP Nadda’s residence to deliberate on the list of candidates. The discussions were attended by key figures including Union Minister Amit Shah, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and senior BJP leaders like Krishan Pal Gurjar, Anil Vij, Sudha Yadav and Captain Abhimanyu.

Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 1, so the final list of BJP candidates will be announced soon. The election results will be announced on October 4.

Meanwhile, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Chandra Shekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) have formed an alliance for the polls, with the JJP contesting 70 seats and the ASP 20. The single-phase elections are expected to be highly competitive.
