They later learnt that the police from Chunchura Mahila police station had arrested them.
At the same time, as soon as the news of the BJP leader’s arrest came, BJP workers reached Chunchuda Mahila police station. BJP president of Hooghly district organisation Tushar Majumdar said, “A lot of people were protesting that day. So why was only Pampa arrested? We will fight a legal battle against it.”
BJP leaders claim that the protest was peaceful and that Pampa Adhikari was wrongfully arrested. According to police sources, a case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code for obstructing police work, unlawful assembly and creating riots.
