BJP MLA gave controversial statement on BSP supremo Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav got angry

UP Politics: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has expressed his displeasure over the ‘objectionable remarks’ of a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA against BSP supremo Mayawati. He shared a 30-second video clip of the argument on a news channel on the social media platform. How much bitterness is there in the minds of BJP leaders towards women and especially those belonging to the underprivileged and exploited society. Akhilesh Yadav further wrote in the same post, “Political differences have their place but as a woman no one has the right to destroy her dignity. BJP leaders are saying that we made a mistake by making her the Chief Minister; this is also an insult to public opinion in a democratic country and it is also extremely objectionable to make allegations without any basis that she was the most corrupt Chief Minister.

SP chief demanded legal action

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has demanded that a defamation case be filed against the BJP MLA for this statement made publicly. He said, ‘The BJP is deeply damaging the honour and dignity of women by patronising such MLAs. If the BJP does not immediately take disciplinary action against such persons, then it must be assumed that this is not the personal opinion of any MLA but the opinion of the entire BJP. This is highly condemnable.’

How has the SP-BSP relationship been in Uttar Pradesh politics?

The relationship between SP and BSP in Uttar Pradesh politics is very old. Their relationship has seen ups and downs. Sometimes these parties contested elections together and sometimes they faced each other as arch rivals. Today, SP and BSP are rivals of each other in Uttar Pradesh. Let us tell you that before the 1993 assembly elections, there was an agreement between the two parties for the assembly elections, then this initiative was taken by BSP founder Kanshi Ram and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. This agreement lasted for a long time but later in June 1995, it was broken after violent clashes between SP and BSP workers at the government guest house in Lucknow. At that time the BSP had accused Mayawati of being attacked by SP workers and leaders. After this, once again in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the SP and BSP came together and an agreement was reached between them where out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BSP won 10 seats and the SP won five but this agreement was finalised in 2019. Only after the election results it was broken and since then leaders of both parties are often seen attacking each other.
