The BMW M4 CS comes with a 3.0-liter engine
BMW India has ended the wait for the M4 CS (Competition Sport) with the launch of the performance sedan at a starting price of Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). The top-of-the-range machine sits above the M4 Competition and comes with a number of mechanical improvements over the standard version. All these changes are aimed at making the sedan better on the track and improving its qualities necessary for use in normal driving.
He BMW M4 CS It now features an upgraded version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine used in the standard M4. This unit was also used in the one previously used in the limited edition CSL. With this powertrain, the CS model’s engine is tuned to generate 550 horsepower, 20 more horsepower than the M4 Competition, thanks to the turbo pushing more air into the engine. It also generates an output torque of 650 Nm.
The BMW M4 CS can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the Competition. Furthermore, it can reach 200 kmph in 11.1 seconds, with a top speed limited to 303 kmph. The eight-speed automatic transmission, which transfers power to the all-wheel drive system, contributes significantly to its performance.
BMW has improved the powertrain to handle longer track sessions by improving the engine cooling system and increasing the oil supply to the clutch to maintain the performance of the four-wheel drive system. Exclusive to the CS model, firmer engine mounts have been added to improve powertrain responsiveness.
The Bavarian firm has also modified the chassis used in the CS to make it 20 kg lighter than the standard model by incorporating a titanium exhaust silencer and carbon fiber reinforced plastic components. Several optimized changes were implemented to improve steering and wheel control.
