There is a situation of confusion regarding appointments in the upper primary schools (classes six to eight) in the state. The Calcutta High Court has fixed the deadline for the appointment of the candidates. Now the state Education Minister Bratya Basu held a meeting regarding the appointments. On Wednesday, the Minister held a high-level meeting at Vikas Bhawan, in which the chairman of the School Service Commission also participated. According to sources, the main discussion in the meeting was regarding the appointments in the upper primary schools.

As per the Calcutta High Court order, there are no restrictions on employment for candidates for higher primary posts. On August 28, the High Court allowed appointment in higher primary schools. This is likely to provide employment to 14,000 candidates. The court directed the School Service Commission to publish the final list within four weeks. Counselling will be held after the publication of the final list.

It is noteworthy that TET was conducted in 2015 for appointments in higher primary schools. The circular was published on October 23, 2016. On June 27, 2019, a notification was issued saying that there would be a personality test. But a case was registered alleging that the documents were not verified properly.

Many allegations of fraud were also made. Following this court order, 14,052 people are expected to get appointment letters. Because the matter had been pending for a long time, recruitment has already been stopped. The School Service Commission is trying to ensure that there are no delays in appointments, for which a meeting was held on Wednesday.
