BrowserStack buys Bird Eats Bug for $20 million, launches bug-catching system

BrowserStack, a software testing platform, recently announced the acquisition of Bird Eats Bug, a Berlin-based bug reporting startup, in a deal valued at $20 million.

The acquisition marks BrowserStack’s fifth major purchase and aligns with its ongoing strategy to enhance its offering in the software testing space.

The acquisition includes upfront cash, stock, and additional investments in product development, all aimed at integrating Bird Eats Bug’s capabilities into the BrowserStack platform.

Improve bug reporting

With this acquisition, BrowserStack aims to deliver a seamless and unified testing experience for developers and QA teams.

Bird Eats Bug offers a software-as-a-service (SaaS) tool that simplifies the bug reporting process, allowing even non-technical users to create detailed, data-rich bug reports.

These reports include instant replays, screen recordings, and full technical logs, making it easier for development teams to quickly identify and resolve issues.

Ritesh Arora, CEO and co-founder of BrowserStack, highlighted the significance of this acquisition, saying, “By integrating Bug Capture’s innovative approach to reporting bugs into our platform, we’re not just streamlining workflows; we’re boosting the productivity of development teams so they can focus more on building great products and less on managing the complexities of the testing process.”

Launching error catching

Along with the acquisition, BrowserStack has launched a new tool, Bug Capture, aimed at improving the manual testing process.

Bug Capture is designed to enable teams to debug issues 30% faster on average by automatically capturing and consolidating all necessary technical details into a clean report.

The tool eliminates the need for extensive back-and-forth communication between testers and developers, further improving efficiency.

Valued at $4 billion, BrowserStack has been profitable since inception and continues to grow its product portfolio, with over 15 products currently available, 10 of which were launched in the last 18 months.

The company has also committed to investing around $30 million annually in product research and development to drive further innovation.
