Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, R. Sai Kishore and Sarfaraz Khan will be among the Indian players called up to action in the important Buchi Babu cricket tournament between Mumbai and TNCA XI in Coimbatore from August 27 to 30. The pre-season tournament holds great importance and the presence of star players has made it a must-attend event.
All eyes will be on Suryakumar, who is eyeing a comeback in Test matches. The right-handed batsman has played only one Test match so far. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar gave Suryakumar a chance to prove his worth by naming him in the Duleep Trophy squads. Ahead of the all-important tournament, Suryakumar will be warming up in the Buchi Babu Trophy.
The tournament is also important for Shreyas Iyer, who lost his place in the Test squad at the start of 2024. He will also play the Duleep Trophy. Both Iyer and Suryakumar might have to play the full Duleep Trophy.
Sarfaraz has been confirmed to retain his place in the Test squad. He scored 200 runs in three Tests against England and is likely to retain his place in the starting XI.
R Sai Kishore is aiming to earn his first Test call-up and will prepare for the Duleep Trophy by participating in the Buchi Babu Trophy. He will lead the TNCA XI team.
When and where to watch Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament live?
The Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament will not be telecast live in India. The Mumbai-TNCA XI match and other matches will be broadcast live on the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
