In this series, Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also reached her hometown Mian Channu to meet Arshad Nadeem on Tuesday. During this, she gave a cheque of Rs 10 million to Olympic gold medallist Arshad.

CM Maryam reached Miyan Channu by helicopter and met Arshad at his home where the star javelin thrower and his family welcomed her. The Chief Minister congratulated Arshad and his mother Razia Parveen and also had a long conversation with them. According to the press release, Maryam handed over a cheque of Rs 10 crore to Arshad to mark the athlete’s winning throw, which she had announced earlier. A Honda Civic car was also handed over, which has been specially registered and the number of this car is PAK-92.97. This number has been registered coinciding with Arshad’s record throw.

He also gave a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the coach.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to Arshad’s trainer Salman Iqbal Butt and praised him for the training provided to Arshad. Maryam was quoted as saying in the press release, “Arshad Nadeem has given unprecedented happiness to the country.”

Maryam shared photographs from this meeting on X and said in the post, “Parents’ prayers take a person to great heights!” “Well done Arshad Nadeem,” the prime minister said in another post, sharing photographs of Arshad wearing the medal.

Arshad received an invitation to dinner at the Prime Minister’s residence

Apart from this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he will host a dinner for Arshad and his family at the Prime Minister’s residence tonight. Speaking during the federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz again praised Arshad and highlighted that he overcame many challenges due to his unwavering efforts. The Prime Minister also praised the javelin thrower’s parents and coach for their support to the gold medallist.

Giving details of the arrangements, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said a special Pakistan Air Force aircraft will bring Arshad, his family and his coach from Multan airport, Radio Pakistan reported. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar said a committee of federal ministers will welcome national hero Arshad at Noor Khan airbase this afternoon and he will be provided with state protocol during his visit.

Arshad to hoist flag with PM on Independence Day

Radio Pakistan quoted Tarar as saying that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been instructed to make a biopic on the Olympian’s struggle and life. Tarar said that Arshad and Prime Minister Shehbaz will jointly hoist the national flag at a function organised tomorrow in Islamabad on the occasion of Independence Day. According to APP, the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has announced an Umrah package for Arshad and his family. According to the report, Arshad will go for Umrah with his wife, children and parents after the ceremony is over.
