Carlyle appoints Anuj Poddar as co-head of global portfolio solutions for Asia

Global investment firm Carlyle recently announced the appointment of Anuj Poddar to the new role of Co-Head of Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS) for Asia, focusing on India and Southeast Asia.

According to the company’s statement, Poddar, who will be based in Mumbai, will work closely with Carlyle Asia’s country-based investment advisory teams, Janine Feng, vice president, Carlyle Asia, who oversees value creation strategies and initiatives in Asia, as well as Richard Elder, global head of GPS in the US, to help drive transformational change and performance with portfolio companies.

Anuj Poddar’s experience

Poddar has more than 30 years of experience in corporate leadership and management consulting. Prior to joining Carlyle, he served as CEO of Bajaj Electricals, a leading lighting and consumer appliance solutions company in India.

Prior to Bajaj Electricals, Poddar was a member of the senior leadership team at Viacom18 Media in India, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s growth, including its successful foray into mass entertainment and expansion into regional and international markets.

During his time at Viacom18 Media, he also led MTV Networks Asia’s strategy for Southeast Asia and China, based in Singapore. Prior to Viacom18 Media, he spent nearly a decade at KPMG and Arthur Andersen, where he provided consulting, M&A and other services to companies across all industries.
