On August 19, 2024, the Central Bureau of Secondary Education (CBSE) shared Radhika’s success story. In the 51-second video, Radhika talks about her learning disabilities and the steps she took to overcome her fears.

The student, as reported by the CBSE, suffers from dyscalculia, dysgraphia and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Radhika said, “Studying for exams is not easy for anyone, but for someone with the ability to learn, it was even more difficult.”

She added: “Having dyscalculia made doing maths almost impossible for me. But thanks to CBSE, I was able to take an alternative subject that I could really concentrate on and learn.”

Radhika shared that during exams she was assigned a writer, whom she referred to as “amazing,” which allowed her to focus on answering questions instead of stressing about writing.

She said: “I also cannot forget the support I received from my school, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, and the teachers who were extremely supportive and helped me and other students with learning disabilities to reach our full potential.”

After reaching this milestone, young Radhika also shared a word of encouragement for those students who are struggling with similar disabilities, stating, “They can achieve anything they set their mind to.”

Radhika’s success story is a testament to the age-old saying that where there is a will, there is a way. Students who are struggling academically should remember that they are just one step away from becoming successful individuals. With the right support and guidance, they can certainly do wonders.

Meanwhile, the CBSE in an official notice to all principals and managers of schools affiliated to the Board, had recently issued a set of guidelines for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
