Congress Leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Raul Gandhi On Saturday he renewed his call for national action caste census and pointed out the lack of representation of women in Dalit, Tribalor other backward class communities in the “Indian lady “pageant list.”

He criticised the media for not caring about farmers and workers and said, “The media still talks about dance, music, cricket, Bollywood, but they don’t talk about farmers and workers.”

He further said that when the Congress forms a government, it will conduct a caste census and remove the 50 per cent limit. booking.

“We will conduct a caste census and the 50 per cent limit on reservations will be removed, which I do not accept… First, we should have before us the data on the participation of different castes in various institutions… There is always talk of reservations, but they are never given a chance,” he said.

Taking a sarcastic dig at the Narendra Modi-led central government for its recent announcement of lateral entry saying, “Lateral entry is a guarantee that 90 per cent of those enrolled in lateral entry will not be affected by it (I guarantee you that you will not find anyone with 90 per cent enrollment in lateral entry),” Gandhi said that the INDIA alliance is demanding a caste census because 90 per cent of the population is being excluded despite possessing the required skills and talent. “90 per cent of the people are not part of the system. They have the required skills and talent but they are not connected to the system. That is why we are demanding a caste census.”

He added that the caste census is the basis for policy formulation for the Congress and INDIA alliance.

“BJP leaders are saying that an OBC section will be created after the caste census… We want the list of different communities. For us, the caste census is not just a census, it is a basis for policy formulation… It is not enough to conduct a caste census, it is also important to understand how wealth is distributed… It is also important to find out what is the involvement of OBCs, Dalits, workers in bureaucracy, judiciary and media,” he said.
