While the inclusion of four Indian chicken dishes was welcomed, the surprise came when the Indian-style dish, Chicken tikka masalawas listed as a UK speciality. This popular dish features roasted chicken pieces marinated in a creamy, spicy sauce. The announcement generated mixed reactions from food lovers on TasteAtlas.

One confused foodie wrote: “Did chicken tikka masala originate in the UK?” Another asked: “How did chicken tikka masala become British? Look at the name! Does it sound British to you?”
