Deliveries of the Citroën Basalt SUV coupé begin across India

Citroën launched its first SUV coupé, BasaltThe new model was launched in the Indian market on August 9. At that time, the brand revealed the prices of the entry-level variant. A few days later, the pricing of all the variants was revealed. Now, the French carmaker has started deliveries of the new model in the country. It is to be noted that the new model is the main rival of the Tata Curvv in the Indian market and has a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the top-end variant of the vehicle will set you back by Rs 13.62 lakh (ex-showroom).

The design of Citroën Basalt The design of the new C3 Aircross is in line with the rest of the brand’s models available in the country. It appears to be heavily inspired by the C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross SUVs. This is evident in the piano black front grille, accompanied by LED projector headlights and LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the car sports a distinctive sloping roofline that blends seamlessly with the boot. Additionally, the rear is fitted with wraparound taillights that enhance the car’s unique appearance.

To enhance the vehicle’s appeal, Citroen offers features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, automatic climate control, armrest with storage space and more. In terms of safety, the brand has incorporated features such as hill start assist, six airbags as standard, TPMS and others.

The Citroën Basalt can be equipped with either a 1.2-litre petrol engine or a turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine develops 82 hp and 115 Nm, while the turbocharged petrol engine develops 110 hp. The turbocharged petrol engine is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox (delivering 190 Nm) or a 6-speed automatic with torque converter (delivering 205 Nm), while the turbocharged petrol engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
