Corruption raid, 11 people including former NCL CMD Bhola Singh arrested, Rs 3.85 crore seized

CBI in action: Central investigation agency CBI has taken major steps against corruption. CBI raided 11 locations in Singrauli and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Noida in Uttar Pradesh and recovered Rs 3.85 crore in cash, digital devices and many incriminating documents. At least 5 people have been arrested and an FIR has been registered against several unidentified persons.

CBI raids 11 locations, including CMD’s private secretary

Among those raided is Subedar Ojha, private secretary to the CMD of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). Besides these, the CBI had also raided the houses of six others. Later, five persons were arrested. Their names are Ravi Shankar Singh, Lt Col Basant Kumar Singh (retd), Subedar Ojha, Divesh Singh and Joy Joseph Damle.

3.85 crore recovered from Subedar Ojha’s hideout on August 17

The CBI had raided his house on August 17 itself. CBI arrested Subedar Ojha after recovering Rs 3.85 crore from CMD’s personal secretary. CBI He says that the amount received from the Subedar’s place was transferred to NCL, Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh) to show favoritism toward many contractors and employees.

Ravi, who bribed NCL agents, also arrested

CBI also arrested Ravi Shankar Singh, owner and middleman of Singrauli-based M/s Sangam Engineering. Ravi Shankar Singh allegedly acted as a link between various contractors/businessmen and employees of Northern Coalfields Limited and helped in delivering bribe money to the employees.

CBI DSP JJ Damle caught accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe

Divesh Singh, an associate of Ravi Shankar Singh of M/s Sangam Engineering, Singrauli, was also arrested red-handed by the CBI. He was giving a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to CBI DSP Joy Joseph Damle, posted at the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jabalpur. This amount was given for filing a report in favour of the accused in CBI. Damle has also been arrested.

According to CBI sources, on the instructions of Ravi Shankar Singh, his employee Ajay Verma had received this money from NCL director (administration) retired Colonel Basant Kumar Singh on October 16. It has also been said that the bribe amount was sent by Subedar Ojha. On August 17, Ravi Shankar gave this amount to Divesh Singh and he gave it to DSP JJ Damle posted in CBI ACB.

  • Sunil Prasad Singh, Director (Technical, Project & Planning)
  • Ravindra Kumar Prasad, Director Vigilance, NCL, Singrauli
  • Dhananjay Singh, Managing Director NCL, Singrauli
  • Kundan Chaudhary, Manager, NCL, Singrauli
  • Nitish Kumar, Manager, NCL Singrauli
