Justine Moore wrote on X that she tried this experiment with 10 people in her family and friends circle, and the response ChatGPT gave was within an inch of the people’s actual height.
She further wrote that all she had to do was upload four photos and then ChatGPT would use the proportions and surroundings to estimate a person’s height. Well, women turning to AI to assess whether a man has provided the right information on dating apps may come as a surprise to many men.
Many women may also wonder why men lie about their height. “There was one man in my life who lied to me about his height. He proudly boasted that he was 1.80m tall, but when I met him in person, I was sure he was no taller than 1.70m. I wanted to ask him why he lied to me about that, or if he was delusional about it, but I didn’t. To me it seemed like a small thing, but to him it was clearly a big deal,” says Suhasini, a 34-year-old consultant.
“As a man, I would venture to speculate that most men lie about their height and try to exaggerate it because they somehow associate it with a sign of masculinity. A common perception among men is that women find tall men attractive and perhaps formidable as well. This may explain why men lie about their height on dating apps to woo the girl and secure a good first impression,” says Karthik, 30, a media professional.
