Delhi Police announces traffic restrictions for Ganapati Puja; plan your journeys and use public transport

Delhi Police has issued an advisory stating that traffic restrictions will be implemented from Saturday around DDA Ground, Burari Bypass during Ganapati Puja Mahotsav, according to a police advisory.

According to the notice, the eighth Ganapati Puja Mahotsav, including Katha Parvachan, will be held at DDA Ground, Burari Bypass, Outer Ring Road from Saturday to September 17 from 8 am to 12 pm.

Traffic impact and restrictions

A large gathering is expected, which could affect traffic on nearby roads, he added.

To ensure smooth traffic management in the area, no vehicle will be allowed to stop or park anywhere on Arihant Marg from Mukundpur Chowk to Azadpur Chowk (on both carriageways), Outer Ring Road from Burari Chowk to Mukundpur Chowk (on both carriageways), Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg to Bhai Parmanand Marg (from Burari Chowk to Parmanand Colony), the notice said.

Compliance and towing

Vehicles found parked on the roads mentioned will be towed and prosecuted according to the law, he said.

The towed vehicles will be parked at a temporary parking lot near Tara Singh Chowk or on Shah Alam Bandh Road behind Majlis Park metro station, he said.

Road closures and traffic diversions

The Shah Alam Bandh road (opposite Burari DDA ground) and the single carriageway on Bhai Parmanand Marg (opposite Burari DDA ground) will remain closed, the notice said.

Traffic will be diverted from the red light on Bhai Parmanand Marg near Yograj Colony and Shah Alam Bandh Road (opposite Burari DDA Ground), he said.

Notice for travelers

The traffic police have asked commuters to avoid Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg and Bhai Parmanand Marg (from Burari Chowk to Kingsway Camp Chowk), Outer Ring Road (carriageway from Burari Chowk to Mukundpur Chowk), Arihant Marg from Mukundpur Chowk to Azadpur Chowk (both carriageways) and Shah Alam Bandh Marg, the advisory said.

Travelers are asked to cooperate by avoiding or detouring from the above roads and making maximum use of public transport. People heading to train stations, airports or ISBTs are advised to plan their journey carefully and allow sufficient time, the advisory said.
