Delhi Police Busts Al Qaeda Terror Module Aspiring To Declare ‘Khilafat’, 14 Suspects Detained

New Delhi: He Delhi Police Fourteen people linked to the Al Qaeda terror group were arrested on Thursday. The suspects were arrested in Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

“The module, as per the current state of operations, was headed by one Dr. Ishtiyaq from Ranchi (Jharkhand), and was aiming to declare ‘Caliphate“and carry out serious terrorist activities within the country,” a Delhi Police statement said.

The members of the terrorist module were trained, including in the handling of weapons, in several places, he added.

Six people from Bhiwadi in Rajasthan were arrested while undergoing training in handling weapons. Eight suspects from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh were detained for questioning.

Interrogations are currently underway at several locations and additional arrests are expected.
