Retired Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has claimed that the Delhi Police has withdrawn protection from female wrestlers who were to testify against Brij Bhushan Singh on Thursday. Former Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik has also claimed that the police have withdrawn protection from female wrestlers involved in the ongoing sexual harassment case against the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief.

“Delhi Police has withdrawn security from female wrestlers who are going to testify against Brij Bhushan in court,” Vinesh wrote in his post on X.

Both Vinesh and Sakshi were among the top wrestlers who protested against Brij Bhushan and the WFI in 2023. India’s sports ministry intervened to dissolve the panel led by Brij Bhushan Singh, who also faced a temporary ban from United World Wrestling (UWW) for delaying the election of office-bearers.
