New Delhi: Several traffic diversions have been imposed at the borders of the national capital from Monday in view of the Independence Day celebrations and entry of heavy vehicles into the city has been banned, according to a notice.

According to the police notice, detailed public order and traffic measures have been taken for the August 15 celebrations.

No heavy transport vehicles (HTV) will be allowed to enter the city from Monday 10 pm to Tuesday 12 pm and similarly from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 12 pm, the notice said.

In view of the restrictions, the police urged essential service providers to stock up on sufficient essential commodities, such as oxygen cylinders, among others, in advance so that they do not face any difficulties during this period, it said.

The general public and motorists are advised to be patient, observe traffic rules and road discipline and follow the instructions of traffic personnel deployed at all intersections, the notice added.

Another notice said that inter-state buses will not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT Kashmere Gate and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT on Ring Road from midnight on Thursday to 11 am

All buses coming from Ghaziabad towards Delhi will pass through Bhopura Chungi Road from Mohan Nagar towards Wazirabad Road and then towards Chandgi Ram Akhara, take a U-turn to ISBT and enter ISBT, it said.

All buses coming from Dhaulakuan will be diverted via Ring Road to take Punjabi Bagh, Azad Pur, Akhara Chandgi Ram, ISBT U-turn and enter ISBT Kashmere Gate, the notice said.

All buses operating between ISBT and Faridabad (Badarpur) will terminate at Sarai Kale Khan or divert via the ring road via Dhaulakuan Punjabi Bagh, Azad Pur, Akhara Chandgi Ram, U-turn to ISBT and enter ISBT, he said.

No bus will be allowed to take the U-turn on the northern loop of Ring Road near Budh Vihar (monastery) and will be diverted towards Wazirabad to go to Trans Yamuna or take the U-turn from Chandgiram Akhara and take the loop of ISBT flyover to go towards Shastri Park and Dhaula Kuan-bound buses will take Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Link Road and Upper Ridge Road (Vande Matram Marg), it said.

Buses bound for Loni border will proceed via Wazirabad bridge and those bound for Ghaziabad will proceed via ISBT bridge, he said.

Local city buses, including DTC, will not ply on Ring Road from midnight to 11 pm on Thursday between ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Ring Road, NH-24, NH ‘T’-point (Nizamuddin Khatta) and will take the alternative route available, the notice said.

Buses that normally terminate at the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi’s main railway station will be restricted or diverted. Normal bus service will be restored after 11 am, he added.
