According to the circular, no student will be denied admission once assigned to a school, except in cases of discrepancies in relevant documents.

The Department of Education (DoE) on Wednesday issued a circular for admission to classes nine to ten in government and government-aided schools in Delhi following reports that students were denied admission due to non-submission of Aadhaar or bank account details.

According to the circular, no student will be denied admission once assigned to a school under the Unplanned Admission process, except in cases of discrepancies in relevant documents.

Children up to Grade 8 will be admitted throughout the academic term in age-appropriate classes as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

The circular also states that students will not be denied admission for not having an Aadhaar or bank account. The admission process for students who were allotted schools during previous Admission Without Plan cycles must be completed by September 16, 2024.

Moreover, the criteria for admission to age-appropriate classes will not apply to students who have passed the previous class in a recognised school or board during the academic year 2023-24, it said.

The Education Department has also stressed in the circular that transfers should be avoided after mid-term examinations but can be approved by the Zonal or District Grievance Redressal Committee in genuine cases.
