Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory regarding the full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations on August 13, which includes information about road closures and advice to use alternative routes. Therefore, do read the traffic advisory before leaving home.

Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and its link roads, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT and Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover will remain closed from 4 am to 11 am on Tuesday, August 13.

According to the traffic advisory, vehicles without parking labels for rehearsal should avoid C-Hexagon, India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, A Point Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg, Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate and Outer Ring Road from Nizamuddin Khatta to ISBT Kashmere Gate via Salimgarh Bypass.

Use these alternate routes

Passengers travelling between North Delhi and South Delhi have been advised to use alternate routes of Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SPM Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuiyan Road and Rani Jhansi Road to reach their destination.

Apart from this, vehicular traffic in the East-West Corridor will move on alternative routes of NH-24, Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapullah Road – below AIIMS flyover on Ring Road, Nizamuddin Khatta, Ring Road, Mathura Road, Subramanya Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Prithviraj Road and Safdarjung Road and vice versa will remain closed. At the same time, the old iron bridge and Geeta Colony bridge going towards Shanti Van will also remain closed. DND, NH-24 (NH-9), Yudhishthir Setu, Signature Bridge and Wazirabad Bridge will remain open to reach the Ring Road.

Please note that from the night of August 12 to 11 am on August 13, the movement of goods vehicles will not be allowed between Nizamuddin and Wazirabad bridges. The advisory states that during this time, interstate buses will also not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT.

There has also been a change in the route of DTC buses

City buses, including those operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), will not ply on Ring Road and between ISBT to NH-24 (NH-9)/ NH T-point on Ring Road from the night of August 12 to 11 am on August 13 and will take alternate routes. According to the advisory, buses coming from East, North, Central, West, South and using Ring Road between Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tilak Marg, Subhash Marg, Akhara Chandgi Ram and Hazrat Nizamuddin Bridge have been instructed to avoid these stretches and use alternate routes.

According to the traffic advisory, people attending the Independence Day celebrations have been advised not to bring cameras, binoculars, remote control car keys, umbrellas, handbags, briefcases, transistors, cigarette lighters, tiffin boxes, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc.

Apart from this, flying of aerial platforms like paragliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, micro-light aircraft, remote-controlled aircraft, hot air balloons, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft will remain banned in the jurisdiction of Delhi till August 15.
