Delhi University’s academic session 2024-25 begins today, August 29. As the first semester classes begin about three weeks later than usual, the admission process is still underway.
The central university on Sunday announced the second round of allotments for undergraduate programmes in various faculties. According to the notice issued on August 25, candidates who have been shortlisted in the second round can submit the fees till 4:59 pm on Friday, August 30. Only those candidates who make the payment before the window closes They will be eligible for “Upgrade” for the next round. The period to accept Round II assignments by logging in through the DU dashboard closed on Tuesday.
The notice reads: “The University will announce the allocations for performance-based programmes and supernumerary quotas of CW, ECA, Sports and Ward in the third round of allocations. The schedule for the third round will be announced soon.”

The delay in the start of classes for the first semester of the 2024-25 academic session can be attributed to the late publication of the Results of the Common University Entrance Examination (CUET-UG), Hindustan Times According to officials, admission to undergraduate courses in various central universities is done through CUET-UG, which works as a single-window test.
This year, the CUET-UG results were announced on July 28, almost a month after the scheduled date. The results were initially scheduled to be announced on June 30, but they faced a delay. Delays due to several controversies involving irregularities and leaked documents complaints regarding the conduct of examinations administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
DU secretary Vikas Gupta said, “We have to compare our results with those sent by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for CUET so that students can see which subject and college preferences they are eligible for. That comparison process is very detailed and takes some time, so we have postponed the start of the session till August 29.” Hindustan Times reported.
