The victim, Mr. Sao, said that in the evening he was returning to Dhanbad on a bike along with his colleague Jitendra Goswami after travelling from Baghmara, Barora and Katras areas. In the same sequence, four miscreants riding two bikes chased them and stopped them near Beldariya and demanded a bag full of money. When he refused to hand over the bag, the miscreants hit him on the forehead with a pistol. Following this, they snatched away his purse. The bag contained Rs 40,000 and a bill. As soon as the information was received, the Jogta and Tetulmari police reached the spot. The police sent the injured Ravi Kumar Sao to the private nursing home in Katras for treatment.
