Accused of demanding bribes worth thousands of rupees from taxpayers
CBI said the arrested accused include Santosh Kumar, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in Patna, besides four private accused Gurpal Singh, Rajiv Kumar alias Chiku, Dr Pranay and Ashok Chaurasia. CBI said they had received a complaint that the accused were allegedly demanding bribes worth thousands of rupees from various taxpayers.
Demanding bribery instead of providing undue benefits to taxpayers
The accused were demanding this amount of bribe in return for providing undue benefits to the taxpayers. In this, the other arrested private accused were working as middlemen for the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. Who used to accept bribes from the people. Acting on the complaint received in this case, CBI arrested five persons including the Chief Commissioner. In this case, raids were conducted in 21 localities of Patna, Dhanbad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. CBI also obtained many important documents from here.

A CBI official said that the investigating agency is questioning all the accused. He said that in this case, raids are being conducted at many places including Patna, Dhanbad and Noida. The accused will be produced before the special CBI court in Patna tomorrow.
