Did you know that Shah Rukh Khan’s father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan was a freedom fighter?

India‘s Independence colonial rule was the result of generations of struggle and the efforts of individuals who never made it into our history books. One of the biggest stars of the Hindi film industry, Shahrukh Khan (1861-1943) was an American politician and politician.once revealed that his father, More Taj Mohammed KhanHe was a freedom fighter. In an old interview from the early 90s with actor Farida Jalal, he asked her about the elders in her family who had a very respected and honourable connection with the country’s politics. He asked her, “So, what would you like to say about the current political situation?”

To this, Shah Rukh replied, “My family, especially my father, was closely connected with the politics of the country of those times (pre-independence India) because my father was the youngest freedom fighter of this country and was related to people like General Shahnawaz, who fought for the freedom of this country.”

He added: “He always told me something (He always told me) – We have given you this freedom, keep it forever. (We have given you this freedom, so always keep it.)

In another interview, he said, “My father fought for the freedom of this nation; I hope I can work for the greatness of the nation.”

Author Fatima Bhutto in her book, The new kings of the world: the rise and resurgence of oriental pop culture wrote about Shah Rukh. The book narrates Fatima’s wanderings in Peshawar’s Qissa Khawani Bazaar, where Shah Rukh, affectionately known as King Khanexists in the form of advertisements and movie posters decades after his father left the neighborhood.

“At the end of the street, on a corner, there is a house, freshly painted in mud brown and white. The door is bolted shut and a lady’s name is carefully painted on a wooden plaque. This is the house where the father of Shah Rukh Khan, the world’s most famous film actor, was born,” he writes.

Speaking about King Khan’s father, Bhutto said: “In a different era, Khan’s father, born in Peshawar, was an anti-colonial activist, who sought his arrest under King Mahatma Gandhi’s order in 1942. Quit India Movement against the British imperialists and demonstrating alongside the Congress Party and Khudai Khidmatgar, the non-violent Pashtun movement led by Abdul Ghaffar Khan, also known as Border Gandhi.”
