Doctor Suggests THESE Common Pills to Speed Up Cold Recovery

Common pills to speed up recovery from a cold

With the change of season and the drop in temperatures, there has been an increase in cases of coughs and colds. While some of these may be a common cold, some people may have symptoms that become severe. However, it is important that you take necessary measures that can help prevent the condition from worsening.

It is important that you talk to your doctor before taking any medication. This is because they will be the best ones who can understand your condition and prescribe the required medication. However, GP Dr Shireen shared the one thing she recommends people do as soon as they notice cold symptoms. This helps reduce the duration and severity of the disease and is also not expensive.

In a post, Dr Shireen said: “I’m an NHS GP and I’m going to give you a little tip that will reduce the length and severity of any cold you have this winter.”

He added: “The moment you notice a scratchy throat, a runny nose, itchy eyes, anything that might suggest you have a cough or a cold, what I want you to do is take two things: vitamin C and zinc.

“You can actually get these Barocca-style tablets that you can dip in water. Just start. You can’t prevent coughs and colds, but research shows that taking zinc and vitamin C reduces their duration and severity. I have personally been doing this for the past few years and I can tell you that it really works.”

Dr Shireen also recommends that adults take a vitamin D supplement during winter, according to a report by Mirror.co.uk. In another of his videos, he explained: “People don’t come to the doctor and say, ‘I’m vitamin D deficient.’ They come to the doctor and say, ‘I feel very tired.’ I have joint pain, bone pain.

“I feel depressed. I feel anxious. I am very prone to infections. My immune system seems to be depressed’, and what do we do as GPs? We do a blood test and all the tests show low levels of vitamin D.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but from October to March everyone should take a vitamin D supplement, and that can be 800 or 1,000 units, but all adults should take a vitamin D supplement.”
