OPD services were completely paralysed in all government hospitals in the district, including Sadar Hospital, on Saturday in protest against the rape and murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata. The OPD and doctors’ offices remained closed. At the same time, clinics and nursing homes also remained closed. Due to the doctors’ strike, the health services completely collapsed on Saturday. According to an estimate, more than four thousand patients from Hajipur Sadar Hospital and several private hospitals and clinics returned without treatment. Bihar Dental Health Services Association state president and Sangharsh Morcha doctor, Bihar state general secretary Dr Thakur Mukesh Singh Chauhan said that doctors have boycotted work across the country in protest against the murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. The OPD service at Hajipur Sadar hospital remained disrupted on Saturday. While all specialists, general physicians, dentists, AYUSH and physiotherapists, private clinics, private hospitals and testing centres in the city remained closed. Regarding the strike, Dr Chauhan had started addressing the city from morning and asking doctors to boycott work. During this, Dr Madhusudhan Singh, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Dr Ravi Prakash, Dr Prabhat Kumar of Hajipur IMA, Dr G Narayan of Chikitsaak Sangharsh Morcha, Dr Amit Kumar, Dr PK Sakseria, Dr CP Singh, Dr MP Singh, Dr Ranjan and others of IDA, Dr SK Vidyarthi, Dr Santosh Mandal etc. helped in making the strike a success.
