Over 65,800 candidates have confirmed their admission to undergraduate (UG) courses at Delhi University (DU), filling 91.98 per cent of the seats in the first round.
The total number of seats for undergraduate students in DU’s colleges is around 71,600. A senior university official said that out of the 83,678 candidates who accepted their allotted seats, 65,483 have confirmed their admission in the university.
As of 21 August 2024 at 12:00 am, 43,515 candidates have opted to upgrade their university or course preference, while 18,478 have opted to freeze their admission status.
On Friday, the university started the admission process and offered 97,387 seats in the first round of admission. To ensure optimal occupancy of seats, the university administration made additional allocations, with a view to an academic session that will begin on August 29.
Providing an update on the seat acceptance process, DU dean of admissions Haneet Gandhi said, “A total of 65,483 candidates had confirmed their seats by submitting fees.”
The University is currently conducting admissions for 71,600 places (excluding supernumerary places) in 69 faculties and departments. There are 1,559 combinations of programmes and faculties available for admission.
According to records, 245,287 candidates applied for Phase I of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)), and 185,543 applicants completed Phase II by submitting their preferences for programme and faculty combinations. The University received a total of 1,721,818 preferences.
This year, DU has introduced a feature in the candidate dashboard that allows candidates to view details of cut-off points and ranks that determine the allocation of seats based on category and quota.
