How did it start?
The whole mess and confusion started because Gaikwad had initially ruled himself out of the Duleep Trophy due to the same groin injury and now he is back. The BCCI had earlier announced about the injury he sustained during the Buchi Babu tournament and that is the reason Sanju Samson He was named as his replacement in India’s D team.
Even when the revised squad list was released, as players had to leave to fulfil their national team duties, Kishan’s name was not in it. That is why it was surprising that he featured in the starting XI for the India C match against India B.
Ruturaj Gaikwad INJURY
Captain of India C Ruturaj Gaikwad Ruturaj’s knock lasted for just two balls before he got injured and had to retire hurt. Being the team’s best batsman, the onus was on him to get his team off to a good start. But he was unlucky on Thursday as he had to leave the field after twisting his ankle during their match against India B. There is no official update from the game but social media reports suggest that Ruturaj hit the first ball for a boundary to get off the mark and on the next ball he twisted his ankle. He left the field grimacing in pain. Not much is known about the nature of the injury but judging by the reactions in the social space, the injury should not be too worrying and he should be fit to bat in the second essay.
