Edtech unicorn upGrad appoints Amit Mehta as CHRO

edtech unicorn upGrad has appointed Amit Mehta as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). He will formally assume office on October 8, 2024.

After a successful career at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he held various HR leadership positions, Amit will lead and drive upGrad’s people strategy globally, driving organizational effectiveness, talent development and performance management initiatives.

His experience will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity in the brand’s next phase of growth.

Amit Mehta’s experience

Prior to joining upGrad, Amit led the HR function for HUL’s Home Care division and drove strategic talent development and growth interventions as Chief Talent and Organization Officer for Unilever’s South Asia markets.

Over the last five years, he has accelerated HUL’s initiatives to strengthen its position as an employer of choice and has spearheaded the company’s leadership development and people analytics.

His diverse experience spans business partnering HR for HUL’s sales and marketing functions, strategic advice as CHRO Chief People Officer and developing people strategies for Unilever’s markets in India, Sri Lanka and Europe; positioning you with competent skills to drive talent growth and organizational excellence at upGrad.

Amit has an MBA in Human Resources from XLRI Jamshedpur and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from VJTI Mumbai.
