Egypt: Giza Museum finally opens its doors for trial run

The Grand Egyptian Museum will display exhibits on ancient Egypt in 12 rooms starting early this week as part of a trial ahead of its official opening.

After more than a decade of construction, the world’s largest archaeological museum will display more than 100,000 artifacts, providing an immersive experience into ancient Egyptian civilization. Officials say the test will help assess visitor flow and identify any overcrowding issues in specific areas of the museum.

The exhibits will span various eras, including the Third Intermediate Period, the Late Period, the Greco-Roman Period, and the New Kingdom, among others. Each room is meticulously organized by historical chronology and dynasty, ensuring a coherent narrative of Egypt’s rich heritage. One notable exhibit features the “King’s Elite,” highlighting members of the royal family and influential officials of ancient times.

In addition to displaying artifacts, the museum is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including multimedia presentations that delve into the lives of the ancient Egyptians, their kings, and their social structures. A standout feature will be a room dedicated to virtual reality, illustrating the evolution of funerary practices throughout Egyptian history.
