Ervind Kejriwal resigns, Atishi to be new Chief Minister of Delhi

New Delhi CM: Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has resigned from the post of Delhi CM. Former CM Kejriwal has tendered his resignation to the LG of Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi will now be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The AAP has announced the name of the new Chief Minister of Delhi replacing Arvind Kejriwal. After the legislative party meeting, the AAP had given this information in a press conference today i.e. on Tuesday at 12 noon. Party leader Gopal Rai said that the Aam Aadmi Party will claim the formation of the new government after the resignation of Chief Minister Kejriwal.

Kejriwal had on Sunday announced his decision to resign from the post of Chief Minister. He had said that he would sit in the Chief Minister’s chair only when the people gave him a “certificate of honesty”.

After being released on bail from Tihar jail in the excise policy case, AAP national convenor Kejriwal had on Sunday said he would resign within 48 hours and demand early polls in Delhi.

The AAP held several meetings on Monday. Kejriwal held one-on-one meetings with members of the political affairs committee (PAC), the party’s top decision-making body, at his official residence and sought their opinion on the next chief minister.

He had met senior leaders, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, over the party’s choice for the chief minister’s post.
