A total of 55 transgender employees have registered under the ESI scheme by June 2024.

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has added 21.67 lakh new workers under its ESI scheme in June 2024, which is about 7 per cent more compared to the year-ago period, the latest payroll data showed.

The ESIC had added 2.027 million new members by June 2023, according to a statement from the Ministry of Labor.

Of the total 2.167 million employees added during the month, 1.058 million workers, representing around 49 percent of the total registrations, belong to the age group up to 25 years, it said.

Additionally, the net enrolment of female members was 4.32 lakh as on June 2024.

Additionally, a total of 55 transgender employees were registered under the ESI scheme by June 2024.

In June 2024, a total of 13,483 new establishments were incorporated into the social security scope of the ESI plan, thus guaranteeing social security to more workers.

Payroll data is provisional as data generation is an ongoing exercise.
